Support for Vulnerable and Less Privileged Children Initiative (SULPCHILD) has commenced a partnership with the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area Education Authority to support indigent children and improve access to basic educational welfare in communities across the local government.

The partnership took a significant step forward when a delegation from SULPCHILD paid a courtesy visit to the Education Secretary, Hon. Areh-Saliu Sakiru, at the Ibeju-Lekki Education Authority.

Hon. Areh-Saliu Sakiru received the delegation on behalf of the Education Board and the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa. He applauded SULPCHILD for its focus on vulnerable children and pledged the full support of his office and team to the organisation’s programmes.

“We welcome this initiative because it speaks directly to the needs of children in our communities. Education is a shared responsibility, and we are ready to work with SULPCHILD to ensure that indigent children receive the support they need to remain in school and pursue their education with confidence,” the Education Secretary said.

Speaking on behalf of SULPCHILD, the Coordinator of Programmes, Mr Godspower Michael, thanked the Education Secretary and his team for the warm reception and willingness to partner with the organisation.

He said the partnership reflects SULPCHILD’s commitment to taking practical support directly to children and communities that need it most.

“Our vision is to ensure that poverty does not become a barrier to a child’s education, dignity or future. Through our Children’s Outreach Programme, SCOP, we are beginning with practical interventions that respond to immediate needs, while building partnerships that can provide lasting support for vulnerable children,” Mr Michael said.

He added that the partnership with Ibeju-Lekki LGA would be particularly important as SULPCHILD prepares for the launch of SCOP on September 17, 2026, when the organisation plans to present educational support materials to selected indigent pupils in schools within the local government.

Also present at the meeting were Hon. Tope, Secretary of Awoyaya Community, Ibeju-Lekki, and Senator Tunde.

SULPCHILD is guided by a wider Pan-African vision to reach more vulnerable children, strengthen communities and build partnerships that create practical opportunities for children to learn, grow and thrive. The partnership with Ibeju-Lekki LGA forms part of preparations for the official opening of the SULPCHILD office and the launch of the SULPCHILD Children’s Outreach Programme (SCOP), scheduled for September 17, 2026 at Awoyaya.

The event will mark the beginning of SULPCHILD’s direct community outreach in the area, with selected indigent pupils expected to receive school bags and exercise books as part of the organisation’s commitment to supporting children’s education and welfare.
